This national programme has requested some of your information is shared to improve healthcare. You have a choice to opt out of this. Please read carefully and contact the surgery reception staff for further information or to opt out.

Repeat Prescriptionsmedication7

To avoid error and confusion, we cannot accept verbal requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone. All requests must be in writing and made in one of the following ways:

  • In person, during a consultation.
  • Using the appropriate computer slip, ticking each item required and dropping this into the box on reception or posting it to the Surgery.
  • Online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration.
  • In writing, stating clearly the items required, printing your name and date of birth, signing and dating the request.
  • Via the Electonic Prescription Service - the new quick and easy way to electronically link your nominated pharmacy with the GP Surgery.

We accept written requests:

If you notice any error we would be grateful if you would let the reception staff know. If you want your prescription to be sent to you in the post, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.

48_hoursProcessing times

Repeat prescriptions received before 12 noon will be ready for collection two business days later, after 16:30. All prescriptions are date-stamped when received.

Non-urgent medication that has been prescribed from a hospital or other organisation will be subject to the usual two business day processing time.

Urgent Prescriptions

Whilst the vast majority of medication requests are of a non urgent nature we do provide same day urgent prescriptions for certain medications. These requests must be recieved before 2:30PM.

This service is strictly limited to the following medications/patient groups:

GTN spray, asthma/copd medication, insulin and associated products, betablockers, warfarin, antiepileptics, longterm antibiotics and steriods, any palliative patient's medications.

Emergency Supply Of Medication/Prescription

If you require your usual medication as an emergency and it is not possible to get a doctors prescription in time it may be possible to obtain a supply from the chemist. See the following nhs link for further information: http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1011.aspx

Urgent prescription requests from the hospital should be provided by the hospital consultant/doctor and they are contracted to provide this.

 

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
